A YOUNG man has been banned from driving for three years for being more than three times over a drug limit.
Adeel Hanif, 25, of Belgrave Road in Keighley, was sentenced at Harrogate Magistrates' Court last Thursday.
He admitted to driving a motor vehicle with a proportion of a controlled drug above the specified limit that same day, having previously pleaded not guilty on August 30.
Hanif was caught driving a grey Toyota Avensis on Skipton Road (A59) near Harrogate, on April 10 this year, while over the limit for THC (the main psychoactive ingredient in cannabis).
The 25-year-old had seven microgrammes of the substance in his system, which is more than three times over the legal limit of two microgrammes.
The court disqualified Hanif from driving for 36 months.
He was also ordered to pay £281, including a £162 fine, £34 surcharge to fund victim services and £85 in costs.
