A BRADFORD man has been fined a hefty sum after dodging rail fare on his journey to Leeds.

Glenn Scott of Cameron Grove, Eccleshill, Bradford has been fined for travelling between Apperley Bridge and Leeds on December 1, 2021, without paying the £4.50 rail fare.

Scott failed to purchase a valid ticket to travel or obtain a promise to pay notice and entered the train and made a journey from Apperley Bridge to Leeds.

The defendant was issued with a Penalty Fare Notice for either £20.00 or twice the single fare, whichever is greater.

As no payment or appeal was received a Reminder letter was sent. As no payment was received a further Reminder letter was sent. They have failed to communicate or make payment and as a result of which the fare remains unpaid.

At South Yorkshire Magistrate’s Court, A Collection Order was made and Scott was asked to pay a fine of £220, compensation of £4.50, and a surcharge to fund victim services of £34 and to pay costs of £150.

In total he was fined £408.50, which must be paid by November 3, 2022.
