Police have urged residents to stay vigilant after an attempted shed break-in.

The incident on Butler Street, found in the BD3 area of Bradford, saw hinges of shed door snapped off.

It is unknown whether the crime was committed by an individual suspect or larger group, West Yorkshire Police said.

The suspect/s appears to have been disturbed before making off unseen.

The attempted break-in took place between October 17 and October 25.

The Bradford East force has invited members of the public to better secure their property’s sheds and outbuildings.

Precautions include using a high quality padlock on the door with no exposed screws; consider using a battery-operated shed alarm; lock away, hide or mark valuable items such as tools; and securing windows with wire mesh or grills.

According to the Met Police, the most common items stolen from sheds include bikes, mowers, sports equipment, power tools and garden tools.
