LOCAL runners are being invited to a charity run taking in parts of the Bolton Abbey estate not usually accessible to the public.

Run Bolton Abbey, sponsored by Midgely Motors, returns for the fifth year on Sunday, November 13, with hundreds of runners taking on various distances.

The event will raise much-needed funds for Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice in Oxenhope, which provides care for people with life-limiting conditions.

One of the people taking part this year is primary school teacher Amy Fox, 34, who lives in Crossflats.

“Both my mum and mother-in-law passed away from breast cancer and received care at the Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice,” said Amy.

“I have been a member of Oakworth Road Runners for years and I’ve taken part in several running events for Sue Ryder, including the Keighley 10k, Summer Solstice and Run Bolton Abbey.

“I’ll always support the charity.”

Run Bolton Abbey offers a choice of distances to suit all abilities, including a half marathon, 10k, 10-mile or 2.4-mile fun run.

In place of medals, a tree will be planted for every person taking part.

The races will start just after 9am, and a two-minute silence will be observed for Remembrance Day at 11am.
