A FOOTBALL club has been subject to a spate of vandalism incidents including a smashed-up toilet block and seats being burned.

Farsley Celtic's The Citadel was targeted by yobs on Friday and Monday night.

The first incident involved the burning of dugout seats while overnight vandals have broken into the outside toilet block.

In light of the incidents, the club says it is looking to increase its security measures.

Joshua Greaves, Farsley Celtic’s CEO, said: "It is an absolute nightmare. It is becoming a regular occurrence.

"We have a game tonight (against Kettering Town in the Vanarama National League North, the sixth tier) so we have just had a look and the toilets have all been smashed up."

The club tweeted: "Unfortunately, we have been subjected to vandalism over recent weeks, with our ground and other facilities damaged.

"As a community club, we have 300+ children using our facilities every week.

"The police are now involved, and if anyone notices anything untoward, please call 101.

"We are now looking to increase our security measures - if anyone is able to assist, please get in touch."

West Yorkshire Police confirmed they have taken two reports of criminal damage at The Citadel on October 22 and 25.

Enquiries remain ongoing, a spokesperson added.
