A BOY aged only 13 appeared in court to face a serious charge.

The schoolboy, who cannot be named for legal reasons due to his young age, appeared before the West Yorkshire Youth Court, at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court, to be sentenced.

He faced one charge of assault by beating.

According to court documents, the offence happened earlier this year, when the boy beat another male.

He pleaded guilty to the offence and was sentenced on October 17.

The boy was referred to the Bradford Youth Offending Team youth offender panel.

He received an extended compliance period of four months, which means his total contract period stands at 10 months.

The court also ordered compensation of £100 be paid.

His parent/guardian will be required to pay it at a rate of £20 per month.
