PEOPLE have been reacting to a stabbing that happened in Bradford city centre overnight, with one resident questioning needless fighting.

West Yorkshire Police was called to Grattan Road to reports of an ongoing disturbance in Grattan Road, in the city centre, at 3.51am this morning.

Officers rushed to the scene and found two males with stab injuries.

One was 16 years old and the other was 20 years old.

On Sunday, one male was discharged while the other remained in hospital.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

The Telegraph & Argus visited the scene at around 1.45pm today and a police cordon was in place on Albion Street, a cobbled alleyway just off Grattan Road.

It was guarded by a police car, while another similar vehicle and a force van were also parked up on the main road.

There were around seven officers clad in black searching the alleyway for evidence, with two heading back to the police van to collect equipment before heading back to the alley.

A resident who lives nearby said he heard shouting and around nine people fighting below but stayed in bed as he did not want to get involved.

He added: "I'm sleeping, I'm working, I'm watching football, why fighting?"

People commenting on the T&A's Facebook page also raised concerns about the stabbing.

Maureen Hardaker said: "Why go out with a knife?"

On a similar note, Brian Harrison said, "this will never stop while people still carry knives", while Mo Hussain said: "they're not going to learn these kids."

Melissa Matthew said: "It's getting bad out there nowadays, hope they are both okay though."

David Goodwin said: "Anybody in that area at 3.50am in the morning is very vulnerable and could be in danger.

"It's not the police's fault that there has been another stabbing in this area again.

"Common sense should tell you that being around Bradford city centre at that time in the morning can be very dangerous."

Police are continuing to investigate the stabbing and have launched an appeal for information.
