A TRANSFORMED Bradford petrol station has opened after a £1.5 million redevelopment.

The new SPAR store and Shell service station, in Leeds Road (A647), near its junction with Gledhill Road has reopened after a huge refurbishment.

It brings to completion seven months of work, with the petrol station completely stripped down in order to turn it into its new state-of-the-art design.

The premises - which are run by growing independent forecourt operator AY & Y Patel Dewsbury Ltd - now feature a modern, expanded SPAR store, with Costa Express machines, Fwip gelateria, and a Frozen Fanta machine.

Customers will also be able to purchase SPAR branded products, as well as Clayton Park Bakery and Fazila Food lines, and the introduction of the popular brand Dot’s Donuts.

The forecourt now has HGV facilities and features Shell livery.

The works have been completed in association with James Hall & Co. Ltd, which is SPAR UK's primary wholesaler and distributor for the North of England.

Shaheena Patel, Head of Operations at AY & Y Patel Dewsbury Ltd, said: “The development of the sites has been a lot of hard work, but they have been worth it, and we are very impressed with the finishing look and feel.

“Both service stations will prove excellent options for customers in Bradford and Leeds, and already we are seeing some strong sales results and we have had brilliant feedback from customers.

“Our association with James Hall & Co. Ltd is fantastic.

"We have a hand-in-hand relationship, and we really feel like we are valued by the team there who work together with us to support our business ambitions."

The two businesses have also launched a new service station at Roseville Road, in Leeds, after a £500,000 investment which has overhauled the site over an eight-month period.

Ms Patel said: “After the success of our reopened site in Mirfield three years ago, we’re confident that similar results will be achieved in Bradford and Leeds, and we have exciting plans in place for two further sites with James Hall & Co. Ltd in due course.”

Peter Dodding, Sales Director at James Hall & Co. Ltd, said: “We take great pleasure from supporting ambitious family businesses like AY & Y Patel Dewsbury Ltd, and seeing the realisation of that support with two outstanding new service stations is terrific.

“We share a strong relationship with the Patel family and we look forward to helping them to grow their business with further forecourts in the near future.”

There is also more to come at Leeds Road too, with a Bombay Bites concept opening soon in a separate building on the same site.
