Police have reopened a major road after a serious emergency incident.

North Bridge in Halifax was blocked off for most of Friday morning– leading to diversions for key bus routes to Bradford and Leeds as well as congestion.

Traffic on the A58 Burdock Way Southbound from A647 Haley Hill to A629 Ovenden Road (Orange Street Roundabout) is affected.

Drivers were advised to divert via Charlstown Road onto Bank Bottom Cripple Gate, then onto Winding Road, towards Burdockway.

Meanwhile First Bus warned of 60 minute delays for the following services: 501, 508, 510, 512, 521, 522, 523, 541, 542, 548, 459, 576, and 579.

The road and Burdock flyover has reopened, according to the latest traffic updates.

First bus said: "North Bridge Halifax is now open and services can resume full route.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused."

681 bus service update

The 681 bus service terminated at Northowram this morning as delays went from 60 to 90 minutes.
