BRADFORD residents out in the heavy rains this afternoon made their feelings known about the resignation of Liz Truss as Prime Minister, with most people welcoming the end of her short stay in office.

The T&A asked people walking through Centenary Square what they thought to Ms Truss resigning.

Brandan Noble, of Bradford, said: I'm not surprised one little bit. Everyone, including her own MPs, was against her.

"I just wanted her gone. The Tories have been in power for over a decade now. They just haven't done anything."

King Samuels, of Bradford, said: "It comes as a surprise to me. She was just new to the job.

"There was so much pressure on her and if she feels that pressure to resign then it's up to her.

"It's probably a good thing because if you can't deliver, why be in the job?"

Gary Stainsby, of Thornton, said: "It's a good thing. She wasn't going to last, not the way she was running the government."

"People thought Boris Johnson was bad. Liz Truss has taken it to a whole different level.

"Maybe it was a poison chalice but I think ineptitude is the right word for her and her cabinet."

Jordan Brown, who works in Bradford, said: "Realistically she let us all down. I was expecting somebody to be strong but she left straight away and left us in a jumble.

He also said that Liz Truss' short time as Prime Minister was like something out of a good book.

He said: "It was like a big scheme that created mystery and suspense. It was like something out of a good book."

One Bradford woman, who did not want to be named, said: "She didn't sound promising in what she was delivering.

"Having said that, I liked her. But I also didn't know her long enough."

Waqar Mahmood, of Bradford, said: "I think it's good she's resigned. I don't think she had the skills to be Prime Minister from the start."

Kayne Battye, of Bradford, added: "I was so glad it happened. She didn't deliver on any of her promises and she wasn't experienced enough for the role."
