TV hit Gogglebox is the inspiration behind a new photography display in Bradford, showcasing the way we watch telly across the district.

Bradford Gogglebox, which has opened at the National Science and Media Museum, captures the television-watching habits of local families and individuals.

As part of the Broadcast 100 celebrations across the Science Museum Group, the Media Museum commissioned two local photographers to take portraits inspired by the hit Channel 4 show, commemorating the channel’s 40th anniversary on November 2.

Photographers Karol Wyszynski and Shy Burhan visited people at home and found them watching all kinds of media, from movies to video games. Their images show “everyday people watching television everywhere - from beds to barbershops, with grandparents and pets”.

Whether sharing the childhood nostalgia of cartoons, following intense dramas from overseas or catching up on the news, the exhibition shows that watching TV is still something we enjoy sharing.

Bradford Gogglebox is at the museum foyer until June 2023, as part of Broadcast 100, a programme of national events celebrating UK broadcasting.
