A NEW convenience store is set to open in a local village next month.

Signs have gone up on the building located on the busy Halifax to Bradford road in Northowram indicating a Sainsbury’s Local store will be opening shortly.

Work has already begun to install a new pedestrian crossing and other safety measures directly outside the new store, which is expected to open on November 24.

The site itself is part of a wider development which has seen the demolition of a large modern building fronting the main road to allow the convenience store and two retail units to be created, as well as a car park.

In doing so, part of the Tannery Business Centre building behind has been opened up, and is to be converted into a café and restaurant.

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

Posters have recently gone up in the windows of the soon-to-be convenience store, indicating its opening date next month.

Calderdale Council Cabinet member Councillor Jenny Lynn said previously: “As part of the development of the Sainsbury’s Local store on Bradford Road in Northowram, a number of pedestrian safety improvements are being implemented on the road, including a new pedestrian crossing.”
