A BRADFORD bar and district brewery are teaming up as part of a global beer festival this weekend.

CollabFest sees the BrewDog bar chain join forces with nearby breweries.

BrewDog Bradford, based on Great Horton Road, is selling a craft beer from Saltaire Brewery called Our First Rodeo. It is described as an IPA – Imperial – Double New England/Hazy. The event, which takes place between October 20 and 23, is an annual celebration of all things craft. It features a total of more than 80 breweries.

BrewDog says almost all of its bars worldwide brew a custom beer with their favourite local brewery during the annual festival which is then sold as part of the weekend. Similar CollabFest events are taking place in countries including the USA and Australia over the next few days.

Haydn Tankard, BrewDog Bradford assistant manager, said: “I’m really looking forward to it. We’re excited by it.

“Our First Rodeo is quite a light and fruity beer. It’s a celebration of local beers and craft beer.”

The opening night of this year’s CollabFest at BrewDog Bradford on October 20 will also feature live music, with singer Kirsty Brannan performing at the venue from 8pm.

Emily Oldfield, Saltaire Brewery marketing manager, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be involved with BrewDog Bradford’s Collabfest, it’s a fantastic opportunity for us as a local brewery to be involved with a local bar and showcase what we have to offer in terms of our beer selection.

“We’ve been operating since 2006, becoming one of Yorkshire’s best-loved breweries, creating tasty beer that is enjoyed across the globe.

“Collabfest has given us another opportunity for our brewers to try something completely new by working with BrewDog Bradford to create ‘Our First Rodeo’.

“A fruited double IPA, this beer has a huge hit of stone fruit flavour, with a hazy pale look and contains a burst of hops.

“Our development brewer, Rob Cooke, is behind the recipe. After joining us from BrewDog in Ellon, partnering with BrewDog Bradford felt like the perfect fit.”

The new BrewDog bar opened in former home of Brew Haus, a short walk away from The Alhambra theatre and the Science and Media Museum, in November 2021.

There are now more than 100 Brewdog bars across the globe, being exported to over 60 countries.

BrewDog Bradford is open on Thursday from 4pm to 11pm; on Friday and Saturday between noon and 1am and Sunday from noon to 10pm.
