A MAN has been fined after failing to produce a train ticket for a journey between Keighley and Bradford.
Hassan Khan, 23, of Norfolk Place, Halifax, faced a charge of failing to produce/deliver a rail ticket on request/give name and address.
Khan boarded a train at Keighley without a valid ticket to travel or promise to pay notice. He then made a journey to Bradford Forster Square, which cost £3.60, on December 9, 2021.
Khan was issued with a Penalty Fare Notice for either £20 or twice the single fare, whichever is greater.
Payment or an appeal must be made within 21 days and he was given full instructions of where to send payment or appeal.
As no payment or appeal was sent, a reminder letter was sent. Then a further reminder letter was sent.
Khan has failed to communicate, or make payment, which means the fine remains unpaid.
Khan was fined £220, ordered to pay £150 costs, a £34 victim surcharge and £3.60 compensation for the offence, for a total of £407.60. A collection order was made by the court.
He was sentenced at a single justice procedure hearing held at South Yorkshire Magistrates’ Court on October 6, 2022.
