A DANGER driver who ran red lights in Bradford at 110mph and went on to speed off from the police again in a black Audi has been jailed for three years and five months.

Harrison Hunt today appeared for sentence at Bradford Crown Court on a video link to HMP Leeds after admitting a string of offences.

They included two incidents of dangerous driving in which he was chased by patrol cars and the police helicopter while going at grossly excessive speeds across the city.

Prosecutor Lydia Pearce said that at 4am on March 6 last year, Hunt was seen speeding on Harrogate Road in a grey Vauxhall.

He was pursued for five minutes in which he did 100mph around Thornbury Roundabout and ran red lights at 110mph.

The police lost sight of him but then found the rental vehicle containing three occupants, Miss Pearce said. On September 23, 2021, Hunt was at the wheel of a black Audi, again on Harrogate Road, Bradford, at 11pm.

He was uninsured and had no driving licence and sped away at 90mph.

Hunt, 25, of Sandmead Way, Morley, accelerated off towards Yeadon, crossing on to the wrong side of the carriageway for 200 metres during the 25-minute pursuit.

He was tracked by the police helicopter and arrested.

His next offence was possession of a bladed article in Kirkgate, Leeds, on November 25. Police called to reports of a fight at 8.30pm found a snapped steak knife in his pocket.

Hunt went on to commit a string of public order offences and thefts, including stealing two children’s pedal cycles.

His barrister, Stephen Tettey, said that Hunt had recently-diagnosed ADHD and a history of drugs misuse. While remanded in custody he had been on courses to help him abstain from substance abuse in the future.

Mr Tettey conceded that prison was inevitable but urged the court to adjust the sentences to allow for the process of rehabilitation.

Judge Jonathan Rose said the offences were so serious that a significant prison sentence was inevitable. Hunt had committed two ‘horrific offences’ of dangerous driving but the court was hampered by the two-year maximum jail sentence.

He was imprisoned for 16 months for the first offence and 15 months to run consecutively for the second one.

Hunt was locked up for six months for possession of the knife and four months for the theft and public order offences, both sentences also to run consecutively, making a total of 41 months.

He was banned from driving for 56 months and until he passes an extended test.
