A BRADFORD music venue hopes to stay open after attracting record numbers for its final event last night.

Sally Brown's on North Parade announced earlier this month that it would be closing with ‘immediate effect’ after being open since November last year.

It held what was billed as its official last event last night, where DJs and staff all worked for free to help towards the cause.

An online crowdfunding page set up to help keep Sally Brown's open has raised more than £1,700.

The post on Sally Brown's Facebook page states: “Thank you everyone.

“We are completely overwhelmed by the support of the community for Sally Brown’s. We held what was to be our final ever event last night…. We had record numbers!

“We took a record amount over the bar! This has ignited even more of a fire to keep fighting and remain open!!!

“Last night has really helped to give us a little more time to secure funding for our future plans.

“We can’t thank you enough for giving us the motivation to fight to keep our doors open. We are going to give it our best shot.

“Last night has proven to us there is a market for Sally Brown’s, it captured the essence of everything we are trying to achieve, and what we stand for.

“We have some very exciting plans and we have everything crossed!!! If all goes to plan…. “Keep your eyes peeled for some very exciting news on North Parade within the upcoming weeks…. (We hope!!!).”
