SOMEONE rang the 999 emergency line...to report something that had happened two weeks ago.

West Yorkshire Police's Contact Management Centre shared details of the call to highlight the importance of using 999 for emergency calls only.

The team often tweets some of the more unusual phone calls they receive from the general public.

In its latest example, the team said: " You shouldn't be ringing 999 to report something that happened 2 weeks ago.... #Not999.”

Previous calls to the contact centre have included someone called 999 to ask them to book some driving lessons for them. Another called to say their knickers had been stolen from their washing line and another wanted police to order them a pizza and another from someone who still had not received a parcel bought two months previously.
