A MAN has been arrested after 'scary' violent scenes near a play park with a knife spotted by witnesses.

Police rushed to a reports of a disturbance on Farfield Avenue, in the Buttershaw area of Bradford, near Farfield Recreation Ground, where there is a children's park.

The trouble erupted at around 5.45pm on Thursday.

A local resident said they saw a fight break out between four to six men who had appeared from two different cars.

They claimed weapons were being used - one of which was reported to be a knife - and said children were playing in the park at the time, describing it as a "scary, scary world we live in".

Another person said police "were all over".

Officers were scrambled to the scene and saw a group of men drive away in two vehicles - a red Audi and a Ford 4x4.

Police managed to stop the driver of the red Audi and he was arrested on suspicion of affray. 

The man, who is aged 31, remains in police custody.

Officers found the Ford 4x4 abandoned nearby.

Both that and the Audi were seized.
