The demolition of a derelict care home in Keighley can progress after planners approved the work.
The Holme Wood Resource Centre is a former elderly care home in the Fell Lane area. It provided a range of respite and day care provision before being shut since 2013.
Since then it has become an anti-social behaviour hotspot.
Owners Bradford Council plan to demolish the building beginning next month, saying it was surplus to requirements, and efforts to find a new use for the building had proved “unsuccessful.”
Last month, the authority submitted a demolition notice to its own planning department.
Plans for major new industrial development in Keighley
Approving the scheme last week, Council officers said: “The submission explains that the site is unused and unusable, having fallen into disrepair due to vandalism.
“They are vulnerable to misuse and anti-social behaviour.
“The structures are relatively low rise and appear of standard construction, so the method of demolition will involve a straightforward mechanical demolition. The buildings are set inside the site boundaries and so adjoining properties should not be unduly affected by such works.”
The Telegraph & Argus has asked Bradford Council what the plans for the site are post-demolition, but has yet to receive a response.
