A MAN has appeared in court for an assault and obstructing a police officer at the home of the Bradford Bulls.

Michael Murgatroyd, 21, of Fagley Road, Bradford, was given a community order for a number of charges.

In the first, he was convicted for obstructing or resisting a police constable in the execution of his duty.

Murgatroyd was also convicted of two separate assault by beating charges. For the first of these offences he was ordered to pay £75 compensation and £185 costs. For the second charge, he was ordered to pay £50 compensation.

All of the offences took place at Odsal Stadium, Rooley Avenue, Bradford, on June 5, 2022.

The community order Murgatroyd was given included an alcohol abstinence requirement, namely he must not consume any alcohol for 90 days.

It also includes an unpaid work requirement where he must carry out 60 hours unpaid work in the community within the next 12 months. The community order also includes a rehabilitation activity requirement. A collection order was made at the sentencing hearing.

Murgatroyd pleaded guilty to all of the charges after previously pleading not guilty at an earlier hearing.

He was sentenced at Kirklees Magistrates’ Court on September 29, 2022.
