A NEW campaign to help people through the “devastating” cost of living crisis has been launched in Bradford.

With the arrival of Winter coinciding with energy price hikes and rising food and fuel prices, organisations across Bradford have come together to let people know where they can get support.

Bradford Council, Community Action Bradford andf District and Bradford District and Craven Health and Care Partnership are launching a campaign which will signpost people to the support available to them.

A dedicated website has been set up for people in Bradford to visit to find out how they can access support with the cost of living crisis, costoflivingbradford.co.uk.

A booklet has also been produced; ‘Cost of living: Support in the Bradford District’, copies of which will be available at local libraries, community centres, GP practices, food banks and information centres over the coming weeks.

The website and booklet include a range of topics to help people including information about government support; energy and bills; food resources; housing support; savings; scams and safeguarding; volunteering; looking after your mental wellbeing; things to do and other helpful websites.

Councillor Susan Hinchcliffe, Leader of Bradford Council, said: “We know these are difficult times for most people across our district, the cost of living crisis is having a devastating impact on our communities. It can be hard to absorb all the information around the support for cost of living, what we’ve done is bring all that information together as best as we can in this one single website, alongside the booklet. We will continue to add information onto the website which benefits our residents in the coming months.

“We will be doing targeted campaigns on key issues like looking after your mental wellbeing during these challenging times, debt, the warm spaces scheme, loneliness and isolation, how to spot a scam, and how to look after your general health.

“I would encourage residents to share this information with family, friends, and work colleagues so they are aware and potentially help each other get through a difficult time.”

Therese Patten, Chief Executive for Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust, said: “These are unprecedented times, and many people are feeling the strain as the cost of living continues to increase.

“This can have an adverse impact on mental health, if this is the case, I would urge you to seek help. Speak to someone you trust or contact a local or national organisation for support and remember you’re not alone.”
