A BRADFORD fundraiser said he was honoured to give gifts to poorly children at a local hospital as part of an annual charitable initiative last week.
Nazim Ali, from Manningham, organised the 10th Creating Smiles Gifts Initiative, where he gave presents to children at Airedale Hospital.
“It can be a stressful time for families to have children in hospital,” he said.
“This was a gesture of kindness to show poorly children that members of the wider community do care about them, and ultimately uplift their spirits.”
The gesture coincided with the Islamic celebration of Mawlid, where Muslims mark the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
“This is a period of reflection for Muslims, but also a period where we should support the most vulnerable,” said Nazim.
Nazim was accompanied by his friends Mohammed Azeem – who himself has spent time in hospital, going into a coma as he battled Covid-19 – and Haji Adnan Fiaz.
Nazim also marked the occasion by giving out roses and chocolates to Airedale Hospital staff and members of the public in Keighley town centre.
Ruth Matthews, Play Specialist at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We are extremely grateful for Nazim’s and Mohammed Azeem's generous donation through SaveCo Cash & Carry.
“We appreciate their continued support.”
