ROAD closures are in place after a pedestrian suffered serious injuries in a collision on Mayo Avenue in Bradford this afternoon.

A number of road closures are in place on Mayo Avenue in Bradford following a serious injury collision, which was reported to police at 12.13pm today (Saturday).

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "At 12.13pm today, police received a report of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian on Mayo Avenue in Bradford.

"Officers attended and the male pedestrian was taken to hospital with injuries which are believed to be serious.

"A number of road closures are in place while enquiries continue at the scene and motorists are advised to avoid the area at this time."

The accident is causing problems with traffic and buses services in the area have been affected.

First West Yorkshire tweeted: "SERVICE UPDATE Mayo Avenue closed from Manchester Road to M606. This does not affect bus route directly but impacts services as all traffic heads up to Odsal Top. Possible delays to services 645/681/686/87/X63. We do apologise for the inconvenience caused."
