A BRADFORD man is to go on trial next year accused of causing the death of a seven-year-old boy who was knocked down on a major road in the city.

Malakye Hall was tragically killed back in August 2020 when he was hit by a taxi on Manchester Road.

Mohsin Hussain, 31, of Carlisle Terrace, Bradford, was charged in July and made his first appearance before a judge at Bradford Crown Court this afternoon.

Hussain was not asked to enter his pleas to the charges of causing death by dangerous driving and causing death by driving while uninsured.

But Judge Andrew Hatton said it had been indicated by Hussain’s barrister that there would need to be a trial and he confirmed that the contested hearing was now fixed to start on October 2 next year.

Judge Hatton fixed a further hearing to take place on December 15 when it is expected that Hussain will be asked to formally enter his pleas to the allegations.

After discussing the progress of the case with prosecution and defence counsel, Judge Hatton extended Hussain’s bail until the hearing in December.

There was an outpouring of grief following Malakye’s death, with scores of tributes left at the scene.
