FOOTAGE has emerged showing the shocking moment a truck "deliberately" rammed into the front of a shop.

It happened on Wednesday night, in the Barkerend area of the city.

People living in the area described a scene of chaos as the front of the shop, on Mavis Street, was destroyed.

The footage has been circulating on messaging app WhatsApp. Dust can be seen billowing into the air following the impact of the smash before the truck flees the scene.

Emergency services were scrambled to the street, while structural engineers were on site yesterday to assess the damage.

West Yorkshire Police said in a statement yesterday: “Police are investigating after a vehicle crashed into a shop on Mavis Street, Bradford.

“Officers were called at 9.11pm yesterday evening to reports a flatbed truck had deliberately reversed into the shop causing serious structural damage.

“No one was injured in the incident.”

The spokesperson added: “A scene remains in place whilst investigations continue and whilst structural engineers assess the damage.

“Officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or who saw the flatbed pickup trust prior to the incident to come forward.

“Information can be given via 101 or the LiveChat facility at www.westyorkshire.police.uk/contactus.”

When asked for an update today, the force said enquiries are ongoing.
