A SHOP with a homely and vintage feel is opening up in the Bradford district.

Indie Boho Vintage, based on Bradford Road, Shipley, opens its doors to customers this weekend.

It is the brainchild of owner Laura Draper, who also lives in Shipley, and sells a wide variety of second-hand, Fairtrade and recycled items.

Mum-of-three Laura wanted to create a shop that feels homely for customers with a host of vintage goods on offer.

She says she only wants to sell goods in the shop that she would own in her own home.

The shop has a host of vintage items on offer including clothes, rugs, bags, suitcases and kitchen goods such as dessert dishes. A collection of recycled sari silk scrunchies and kids vintage range of clothes and toys are also on offer.

Most of the goods Laura sells are vintage, but she also supports causes in India that make and sell products that support disadvantaged people, Candles from the Dalit Goods Co are available through the shop. This company sells candles aimed at creating employment for Dalit men and women in India, as one in three of the world’s poor live there and most are Dalits.

A number of T-shirts designed by Laura herself are also available in the shop, including her ‘Vinyl Lover’ and black organic Peace items.

The site will welcome its first customers for a launch weekend event on Saturday, October 8 and is also open the following day, between 10am and 6pm on both days.

From October 12, the shop will be open every Wednesday to Saturday from 9am to 5pm on each of those days, but it will be shut between 3pm and 3.30pm each day.

It is Laura’s first shop after initially developing her business online, which she plans to continue with.

She said: “It feels exciting, it’s come together.

“It’s a cute little shop that I would love to come into if I was a customer.

“I only stock things that I would have in my own home.

“I have been selling it all online from home for a long time.

“This is my first shop. I have rented space in other shops and done festivals before. I’m still doing the website alongside the shop.

“I wanted it to feel like a nice place to hang out. I wanted it to feel nice. It’s got a nice, homely feel.”
