A CONSULTANT who sped at 90mph on the M62 has avoided a driving ban due to their job.

Mawaheb Hammoud, 59, was caught breaking the speed limit between junctions 27 and 26 on January 24, 2021.

Hammoud pleaded guilty to the offence on May 6 this year.

Court documents state there would be no totting disqualification due to mitigating circumstances.

Such a disqualification is when someone accumulates 12 or more penalty points on their licence within a three-year period, resulting in an automatic driving ban.

Documents state the loss of licence would cause patients “exceptional hardship” due to Hammoud’s job as a consultant and public transport “would not be a way forward”.

Hammoud, of Foggbrook Close, Stockport, was fined £717, ordered to pay costs of £110 and a surcharge of £72 to fund victim services.

Hammoud must also pay £110 costs. Hammoud’s driving record was endorsed with three points.
