REMEMBER the Wimpy bar on the old Broadway ?
This photo of the city centre burger bar was taken in 1988.
In 1985 the Telegraph & Argus reported: "A new-style Wimpy fast food restaurant will be open in Broadway Bradford by the end of the year.
"The 5,00 sq ft premises, where it will be based, has just been bought by the company. It is one of the counter-service restaurants being opened by Wimpy within the next few months on prime shopping area sites throughout Britain."
On the first anniversary of the burger bar opening, animal rights protestors carried out a mock killing of a cow outside the premises.
The T&A reported: "They were protesting because the fast food restaurant does not give people the choice of vegetarian burgers."
