A WOMAN faces a bill of more than £630 after dodging a train fare between Frizinghall and Bradford Forster Square.
Patrice Burnside, 19, of Wood Lane, Bradford, faced one charge of travelling on the railway without paying a fare.
She travelled between Frizinghall and Bradford Forster Square without paying the £2.80 fare.
Upon arrival at Forster Square station after the journey, on March 18, 2022, Burnside approached the barrier staff and presented a Child's Anytime day single from Frizinghall to Bradford dated March 17, 2022. The ticket was out of date and she was not a child, the court documents added.
Her details were obtained and she was advised the facts would be reported.
Following the incident a letter was sent to the defendant requesting an explanation, as there was no response, a Fixed Penalty Notice was then sent. However, this remains unpaid. The fare avoided is £2.80 and compensation of this amount is claimed.
Burnside was fined £440, ordered to pay £150 costs, a £44 victim surcharge and £2.80 compensation for the offence, which totalled £636.80. A collection order was made at the sentencing hearing.
Burnside was sentenced in her absence at Kirklees Magistrates’ Court on September 14, 2022.
