A BRADFORD man has avoided a driving ban due to him just starting up a new business.
Nicholas Wilkinson, of Drovers Way, was caught using a vehicle on the Stanningley Bypass without third-party insurance on January 8 of last year.
Court documents say there was no totting disqualification because of his mitigating circumstances.
These were that he would not be able to continue with his two-month-old business of selling motorbike parts and fixing them.
His business partner is a mechanic but Wilkinson is not, he drives.
Both have invested money which they would lose without Wilkinson being able to drive.
He was fined £120 and had to pay court costs of £110 and a £34 victim surcharge.
He pleaded guilty to the offence - which carries six penalty points - on August 14, 2021.
The 29-year-old appeared in Bradford and Keighley Magistrates' Court on Thursday, September 22.
