TRAVELLERS have moved onto a Bradford park, causing 'frustration' for people living in the area.

Scores of caravans are parked up on Knowles Park, off Tong Street, on the edge of Holme Wood.

One resident, who didn’t want to be named, told the Telegraph & Argus: “We’ve had this issue for over three months now, they come and go, they come back."

He pointed out that it’s recreation land, but people are unable to use it and complained about the waste that is left behind

The caravans are blocking a large swathe of land in the park, including public footpaths.

Bradford Council, which owns Knowles Park, has been contacted for comment.

Councillor Matt Edwards (Greens, Tong) said: "This is a very frustrating issue for residents.

"Knowles Park is a much-used park.

"However, the big problem here is that Bradford Council is failing to provide any safe space for travellers to camp safely - especially in the South of the city.

"As a ward councillor I have been in regular contact with the police and neighborhood services to ensure that this is dealt with.

"Once they leave the park, Councillor Hickson and myself are going to have some challenging discussion with our parks team to ensure the park is safely secured."
