A BOY aged only 14 was caught with a machete on a Bradford street.

The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons due to his young age, appeared before Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court to be sentenced.

According to court documents, on August 18 this year, he used “threatening, abusive or insulting words/behaviour with intent to cause fear of/provoke unlawful violence” by brandishing a knife.

On that same day, he damaged a UPVC door and was also charged with the possession of an offensive weapon – a machete – in a public place.

He admitted all the offences and was referred to the Bradford Youth Offending Team youth offender panel for a 12-month period.

The court also ordered a £22 surcharge to fund victim services be paid by his parent/guardian.
