BRADFORD is the second cheapest place in the country to rent an apartment, new data shows.

The average to rent in and around the city came out at £537.95 per month, although most affordable location, Stoke-on-Trent, is almost £40 cheaper.

The research was undertaken by AskGamblers.com, which analysed the most populated cities in the UK and used data from Numbeo.

This analysis was based on prices for one bed apartments and three bed apartments, both in the city centre and outside of the city.

While Bradford's overall figure is the second cheapest, it boasts the most affordable one-bedroom apartments in city centres across the country.

The average monthly rent was worked out at £443.12.

Its three-bedroom apartments in the vicinity of the city centre were the third cheapest, at an average monthly cost of £692.14.

A one-bedroom apartment outside the city centre would cost on average £384.38 per month, while a three-bedroom property would set you back £632.14 - significantly less than in the middle of Bradford.

The place with the priciest average monthly rent for tenants was London, coming in at £2,100.69, almost four times that in Bradford.

London had the highest cost for every form of apartment analysed in the study.
