AUTHOR Victoria Preston will explore the topic of pilgrimage with the Bishop of Bradford in a free event held in Bradford Cathedral.

Ms Preston – author of ‘We Are Pilgrims’ - is coming to the cathedral on Tuesday, October 18, to join the Bishop of Bradford, the Rt Revd Toby Howarth, in conversation about the topic of pilgrimage.

Together they will discuss the topic of pilgrimage and what drives people to undertake such journeys, either as an expression of faith, gratitude, kinship, or in search of solace or enlightenment.

They will also encourage members of the audience to bring insights on pilgrimages they have made, and any thoughts they might have on pilgrim journeys they are planning.

Ms Preston said: “At this event, I hope we can explore together what drives people of all faiths to undertake these journeys.”

The Rt Revd Toby Howarth, Bishop of Bradford, added: “The extraordinary scenes we witnessed over the mourning period for Her Late Majesty, as thousands queued, walking miles with strangers to pay their respects, showed us the abiding relevance and power of pilgrimage.”

The talk – which begins at 7pm – will be preceded by refreshments at 6:30pm.
