A STATE-of-the-art safety deposit facility is offering people a place to store their valuables which uses facial recognition to gain access.

Keighley Vaults, based on Cooke Street, offers people the chance to leave their items in one of the site’s 1,500 safety deposit boxes. The items it keeps safe may include jewellery, heirlooms, valuable documents, passports or title deeds.

The site has a 24/7 monitored highly-secured and sophisticated private vault and all of the boxes containing the items are numbered. The centre’s security features include biometrics access control. The centre also includes a private viewing room.

The price of hiring out one of the boxes for a full 12 months ranges from £115 to £300, depending on the size of the box.

Taliq Hussain, director of Keighley Vaults, says he was prompted to set up the business following an attempted burglary at his own home.

He said: “It is a state-of-the-art facility. It is all done by facial recognition, fingerprints and access cards.

“Our facility is one of the best in the country in terms of technology. It gives people peace of mind.

“People are vulnerable to burglaries when they keep their items in their own homes.

“With the cost of living crisis, there is a potential for the crime rate to go up.

“What makes us different is the state-of-the-art technology we use. People put cash in the boxes too.

“I wanted to make it affordable to have boxes to cater for different budgets and needs.

“We offer the chance for our customers to obtain their valuables at their leisure. They don’t need to interact with any of our staff members. They don’t need to make an appointment. It’s the modern way of doing things, there is no human interaction.

“Other businesses of this type have a chaperone when going to the boxes. There is no security guard here, only authorised people can go down there. There are alarms on every box.

“A lot of people I have spoken to have said they will transfer their box from their bank to us.”

Keighley Vaults is open Monday to Friday between 10am and 6pm and every Saturday from 10am to 2pm. The centre is closed on Sundays.
