A DERELICT Keighley building that has suffered “extreme vandalism” will likely be demolished in early November.

The Holme Wood Resource Centre is a former elderly care home in the Fell Lane area of Keighley.

The building, which provided a range of respite and day care provision has been shut since 2013. Since then it has become a hot spot for anti-social behaviour, as well as falling into a sorry state.

This Summer Bradford Council, which owns the building confirmed that it would be demolished after unsuccessful efforts to find an alternative use for the premises.

Now an application to demolish the building has been submitted – providing more detail on when the work is likely to start.

The application says if the plan is approved, demolition work is expected to start on November 6.

The application says: “The building is now surplus to requirements and no alternative use can be found.

“The building has also suffered extensive vandalism and has now become both an eyesore and potential danger.”

The Telegraph & Argus has asked Bradford Council what the site will be used for once the building has been demolished, but has yet to receive a response.
