JEWELLERY designer Emma White has spoken of her favourite pieces created so far ahead of the final of TV series All That Glitters: Britain’s Next Jewellery Star.

One of Yorkshire’s leading contemporary jewellers, Emma has made it to the final three in the popular BBC Two series.

The second series, which was actually filmed last year, has left Emma having to keep just how she did on the show a secret for a number of months.

But with the final set to air this week, all will be revealed shortly.

Speaking to the Telegraph & Argus ahead of the final, Emma, who lives and works in Farsley, said she was a massive fan of the first series, which prompted her to take part this time round.

“Obviously, jewellery is my huge passion anyway, and this was kind of a new take on that sort of competition/talent show format.

“It was just perfectly up my street. I was just hooked from the first episode and then they were recruiting fairly swiftly after that for the second series.

“It was an incredible moment when I finally found out I got on.”

As for the challenges themselves, the mum-of-three and stepmum to three described her favourites, a spinning ring in episode two, and a charm of a hand in episode three – where she actually used the hand of one of her daughter’s dolls to make the cast.

The show has seen Emma, who used to teach at Bradford College, have to pick up lots of different techniques, and contend with being on camera while working to a time limit.

Dubbed ‘The Storyteller’ by one of the show’s judges, she said: “I wasn’t fazed by the camera. I teach as well so I'm quite used to sort of standing in front of groups of people, talking and making at the same time, and people staring at me and asking questions, and all of that.

“Really, it was the stopwatch that was terrifying. The last 20 minutes of any challenge was just horrendous. But overall, it was such a positive experience.”

Moving forward, Emma has picked five of her favourite designs from the show and developed collections from them – including the spinning ring, and hand charm.

In addition to taking part in the show, Emma is in the process of expanding her studio and workshop space at Sunny Bank Mills in Farsley.

The final, which will be aired on September 29, at 9pm on BBC Two, sees the finalists challenged to create a sapphire engagement ring for a client, and a bespoke occasion necklace for Strictly Come Dancing judge, Shirley Ballas.
