FILMING is underway in Bradford’s historic Little Germany for a major Netflix drama - and the team behind it has been left “hugely impressed”.

Scenes have been shot across the district for the eight-part series Bodies, which is set to star Line of Duty actor Stephen Graham.

He will join The Queen’s Gambit Jacob Fortune-Lloyd, Unorthodox’s Shira Haas and The Responder’s Amaka Okafor.

Filming will be taking place on Burnett Street in Little Germany until the end of Wednesday.

Based on an acclaimed graphic novel, Bodies tells the story of four different detectives trying to solve a murder in different time periods - 1890s overachiever Edmond Hillinghead; dashing 1940s adventurer Karl Whiteman; female 2010s Detective Sergeant Shahara Hasan and Maplewood, an amnesiac from post-apocalyptic 2050.

Together, the four set out to uncover a conspiracy spanning 150 years.

The iconic Lister Mills has been one of the locations for 2050, described in the graphic novel as a London filled with “the last survivors of a terrifying techno-apocalypse”.

Scenes have also been shot in Salts Mill in Saltaire, as well as in Bradford City Hall.

David Wilson, director of Bradford UNESCO City of Film, told the Telegraph & Argus: “We have been working to support Netflix on this production for almost a year now and they have been using a warehouse in Little Germany as a studio base since April this year as well as filming at numerous locations across the Bradford district including City Hall, Lister Mills and Salts Mill.

“It’s a great team to work with and they’re hugely impressed with all the locations which the Bradford district has to offer and the continued support from the team at the Bradford Film Office.”

Bradford has provided a backdrop for several high-profile productions, with Little Germany a firm favourite.

Scenes for BBC One drama Gentleman Jack were filmed there last year, while filming has also taken place for The Crown, All Creatures Great and Small, Downton Abbey among others.

There has also been extensive filming across Bradford for upcoming ITV drama Malpractice, including in City Hall, Shipley Town Hall, the former Shipley tax office, as well as private homes in Eccleshill and Rawdon.

The story follows Dr Lucinda Edwards, played by Niamh Algar, who is a doctor on a shift that ends in the death of an opioid overdose victim, Edith Owusu.

Meanwhile, Bulmer and Lumb, off Halifax Road, has been used for The Long Shadow, which will tell the story of the horrific Yorkshire Ripper murders and the huge manhunt to find him.
