DEGREES and higher-level study will be the topic of conversation at a specialist open evening coming soon to Bradford.

Students interested in exploring higher professional and technical qualifications at degree-level are invited to Bradford College’s Great Horton Road site for the bespoke open evening on October 13, from 5-7pm.

The open event is aimed at students looking to enter full-time Higher Education, postgraduate study, or start a part-time Higher Education course. Qualifications include HNCs, HNDs, Foundation Degrees, Honours Degrees and even postgraduate study such as Masters Degree programmes and PGCEs.

Bradford College is one of the largest providers of Higher Education outside the university sector. Not only that, results of the 2022 annual National Student Survey (NSS) showed greater satisfaction for higher education learners at Bradford College than at all public universities in Yorkshire.

Final-year degree students at 385 universities, colleges, and alternative providers across the UK gave feedback on their courses in the 2022 survey, making Bradford College’s results exceptionally impressive.

In addition to course information stands, tutors and students will be on hand at the open evening to talk about subjects, course levels, progression opportunities and how to apply for courses. Support teams will also provide information on fees, finance, and learning support.

The College’s career-focused qualifications are designed to give students the edge using industry-standard working environments and state-of-the-art equipment. Those attending the open event can explore the facilities and resources, apply for a course to secure a place, get career advice, and find out about progress coaches and work placements.

Learn more about the College’s prestigious School of Art facilities used by researchers around the world, the state-of-the-art TV studio, and the award-winning Grove restaurant and café bar that provides a training environment for catering and hospitality students.

BRADFORD College Students' Union welcomed new learners to a free circus-themed Freshers’ Fair to mark the start of the new academic year.

Over two fun-filled days, students enjoyed a host of free activities while learning more about college life and the support available from partner organisations and information stalls around the site. Held at the David Hockney Building, the Freshers’ event showcased all the thrills of the Big Top, with circus performers, stilt walkers, slackline (tightrope), face painting, and funfair games. After taking snaps in a 360 photobooth, dropping into circus workshops, and tucking into candyfloss and popcorn, students were able to sign up to some action-packed sports taster sessions.

* BRADFORD College has just launched a 'Swap, Don’t Drop!' campaign to encourage students to stay in education.

The initiative is part of a national campaign targeting students who may have enrolled on a course but might have a change of heart. The College is promoting that it is easy to switch courses at this point in the academic year, both for their own students and those elsewhere.

The College Careers Team is on hand to advise students having a curriculum rethink, and the Career Coach tool on the College website is available to help for exploring job options. Student Services, personal tutors, or study coaches can offer more information.
