A DRUG addict in prison awaiting sentence for robbing a woman of banknotes in Bradford’s Great Horton Road has had his sentence adjourned for a week despite vigorously protesting that he wanted to be dealt with today.

Daniel Wills, 30, of Mannville Terrace, Great Horton, appeared before Bradford Crown Court on a video link to HMP Doncaster where he is remanded.

He was due to be sentenced after pleading guilty to robbing a woman of banknotes on August 13 and being in possession of a knife.

His barrister, Ken Green, said a short pre-sentence report had been ordered earlier this month but Wills hadn’t been brought to the court building so he couldn’t be seen by a probation officer.

Mr Green said his client was a Class A drug addict who wanted to know his fate.

Wills told the court he was keen to be sentenced, did not want a report and would not co-operate with the probation service.

But Recorder Tahir Khan KC said the wider interests of justice had to be considered.

He adjourned the case until next Thursday so that Wills can see a probation officer in the court cells before his case is dealt with.
