Irresponsible dog owners are messing up the streets of a quaint village by refusing to clear up after their pets, it is claimed.
A spokesmaon for Burley Parish Council said there had been a noticeable increase in dog fouling throughout the village in recent months.
The maximum fine for failing to clean up after a dog is £1,000 with fixed penalty fines of £50 issued on a regular basis.
The council has urged anyone witnessing dog fouling to call the Dog Administration Department on (01274) 434366.
Callers are urged to make a note of the time of the offence and to give a description of the dog and its owner.
