Residents and the team at Czajka Care Group from across the five care homes and nursing homes, two retirement communities in Nab Wood and Steeton and The Clubhouse at Fairmount Park have joined together to remember and grieve the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

Konrad Czajka is the managing director of the family-run care company. He said: “As soon as we heard about the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, we knew it would have an impact on so many.

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

Our wonderful team comforted our residents and each other and immediately decided to create a special place in each of our homes to honour and remember Queen Elizabeth II.

For many of our residents, the Queen has been a constant in their lives. Recently two of our current residents have both received wonderful cards when celebrating their 100th birthdays. May Monk who lives at our Brookfield Care Home in Nab Wood, Shipley, was delighted to receive a special message from Buckingham Palace earlier this year.

When we helped Betty Coglan, who has lived with us at our Currergate Nursing Home in Steeton since 2019, celebrate her 100th birthday, with a fabulous party and a big birthday cake, she couldn’t stop smiling when she opened her card from the Queen!

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

The Queen was very much loved by residents and there has been lots of reminiscing about her and the royal family in general. Despite feeling very sombre the night she passed, we have all celebrated her life and what she has achieved and have gathered together to watch the coverage of her final journey to her resting place.

Residents and the team have felt it reassuring to have the pictures and flowers on display and have used the memorial spaces we have created to pay their respects to Queen Elizabeth II. She meant so much to them and despite their deep sadness, we have also been able to create moments of joy by coming together as a community to celebrate her life.

We appreciate her unwavering commitment to us all over so many years. As well as being the Queen, she was a wife, sister, daughter, mother, grandmother and a great grandmother to her family and to quote the Queen, grief is the price we pay for love.

We will miss her, but she will always remain in our hearts".
