A Liberian national was remanded to police cells for further questioning when he appeared under arrest at Bingley Court today.
Jeffrey Aibangbee, 20, faced an offence of possessing a Belgian passport which was false in Ilkley on April 24 and 25.
The bench agreed to a remand in custody for three days for police to continue questioning Aibangbee, who gave an address in Coppley Street, Bradford, and for more time to get information from the West Yorkshire Economic Crime Unit.
Prosecutor Abid Ali said the Crown Prosecution Service understood he was of no fixed address.
Magistrates agreed to adjourn the hearing.
He is expected to appear again at Bingley on Thursday, May 1, when he will be sent to Bradford Crown Court.
The offence, under the Identity Card Act, can only be heard at a Crown Court.
