A PRE-INQUEST hearing was held today for a Bradford brother and sister who died in a house fire earlier this year.

Linda McGinty, aged 63, and Alan McGinty, aged 68, died after the fire at the house on Ringwood Road, Canterbury on Monday, March 28.

In the investigation which followed, police confirmed they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.

At the pre-inquest hearing held at HM’s Coroner’s Court in Little Germany today, Assistant Coroner Crispin Oliver said that both Linda’s and Alan’s cases would be opened as inquests on November 15 .

“Both Linda and Alan had the same medical cause of death, which was inhalation of products of combustion. This was provided by the pathologist,” said Mr Oliver.

Giving evidence on the incident, coroners officer Laura Sinfield added: “West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service attended a property fire where they gained entry and discovered Alan in the living room, and Linda was there as well.

“Despite life saving attempts, both sadly died at the scene.”

Mr Oliver requested a GP report by 7 October and other medical reports by 14 October.
