ARE you an artist interested in exhibiting your work?

Bradford’s Trapezium Gallery is inviting submissions from creatives across the Bradford district, to be considered for a Christmas exhibition.

Artists are invited to submit work to Trapezium’s Arts Online Gallery Open - all the work will be considered for inclusion in the festive exhibition at Trapezium Gallery on Kirkgate in the city centre. Below are some of the artworks already submitted for the online gallery.

Says Ken Woods of Trapezium Arts: “Our gallery in the centre of Bradford is open again for full exhibitions, but we’re still very keen to continue showing art made by local people online.

“The Online Gallery was so successful over lockdown, many people have asked if they can carry on submitting work. It is ideal for exhibiting one-off pieces of work and digital creations without printing, but includes all sorts of art forms - from drawing and painting to photography, textiles and the crafts. We want people to send us their creative endeavours which we will upload and display for people to go online and view.”

This year Trapezium Arts are launching an annual Open Exhibition at the Kirkgate gallery in the run-up to Christmas and will be selecting entries from all the artwork submitted to the Online Gallery between now and the end of October. The Christmas Open Exhibition will be open to the public from Saturday, November 19 to Saturday, December 24.

This can be a great opportunity for anyone starting out as a creative artist or photographer, says Cath Muldowney, who was a relatively novice photographer when she submitted some photographs to Trapezium Online Gallery during lockdown. She was later invited to show her work, along with other artists, in the Back to the Wall exhibition at Trapezium’s Kirkgate gallery in May 2021. Cath held her first solo exhibition, Paradise Street - Under One Sky, at Trapezium in August.

Says Cath: “Their knowledge, support and advice throughout this journey has been invaluable to me. So go on, submit your work, show your talent and share the word - you never know where this may take you!”

Trapezium Arts is a volunteer-run independent contemporary art and photography gallery based at 58 Kirkgate. It showcases art “from all walks of life in a welcoming and accessible way”.

The Online Gallery also has a series of Individual Galleries showing work by a single artist or group.

The process of submitting work is straightforward, says the gallery team. Online curator Lauren will be on hand to guide artists through the process if needed.
