A DRUNK driver who failed to stop after a road accident has been jailed.

Martin Green, 38, of Eskdale Rise, Allerton, was found guilty at a hearing at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court relating to an incident that took place in December 2020.

He had pleaded not guilty to driving a motor vehicle when above the alcohol limit at Kent Road, Bradford, failing to stop after an accident at Cornwall Road in Bingley, and criminal damage to a Volvo in Bingley.

But he was found guilty of both charges by the courts on September 6, and was jailed for ten weeks in total.

Green was found to have 54 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, which exceed the limit.

He was disqualified from driving for two years and must also pay a total of £848 to the courts, including £620 in costs and £100 in compensation.

Court documents show he was jailed because the offence was so serious and no other sentence was justified.

Magistrates said it was because he had failed to stop after an accident while under the influence of drink and damage was caused to a vehicle.
