A BRADFORD woman has been jailed for six months after stealing from two Tesco stores four times in the space of a month.
Amanda Edmondson, 49, of Burneston Gardens, Bradford, was charged with stealing baby milk to the value of £27 from Tesco in Buttershaw on June 7.
At the hearing on September 5 at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court, the case was proved in her absence.
In addition, a suspended sentence order issued on June 1 was activated, leading to a total jail sentence of six months.
In sentencing as they did, magistrates said it was due to a “wilful and persistent failure to comply with the requirements of a community order because the offence was aggravated by being committed whilst subject to a community sentence”.
There were four offences connected to the suspended sentence order, including two thefts from Tesco in Buttershaw in May, stealing £45 and £67.50 of washing detergent.
There was also one further theft, this time on June 4 from Tesco at Great Horton Road, of various items including meats, cheese, and health and beauty products to the value of £162.18.
The final charge was an assault on the same day at the same Tesco.
