A VIRAL video has shown the Queen's coffin passing members of the public on a dual carriageway.

Queen Elizabeth II died peacefully at Balmoral Castle, in Aberdeenshire, Scotland aged 96 last Thursday.

Buckingham Palace announced the news officially at 6.30pm that day and a period of national mourning began, ending after the day of her State Funeral next Monday.

The Queen's coffin has since begun a procession across the country for people to pay their respects, carried by a hearse.

The cortège made its way from Balmoral - a large residence of the royal family - to the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh yesterday.

A TikTok user, by the name of thediggerloon, managed to catch footage of the procession coming past on a dual carriageway, signposted as the A92 on the video, 13 miles from Aberdeen.

It is believed the royal convoy then moved onto the A90, with crowds gathered at the side of the road to catch the spectacle, as reported by The Independent.

The caption with the footage said: "Lucky enough to see the Queen coming from Balmoral today. R.I.P Her Majesty the Queen."

The 72-second video is accompanied by a backing track of bagpipes as a number of police vans, motorbikes and other vehicles first make their way down the carriageway on the opposite side of the road to the one the user is travelling on.

Around 10 seconds later, the user goes past two lay-bys on either side where cars are parked up with people outside their vehicles, looking on for the cortège.

Several more police motorbikes come past a few moments later and then the hearse carrying the Queen's coffin comes into view, followed by a number of black vehicles and even more police.

The video had 1.8 million views, more than 132,000 likes and 732 comments at the time of writing.

The royal convoy passed down the Royal Mile in Edinburgh yesterday, where large numbers fell silent to pay respect, before coming to rest at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, where the Queen’s coffin remained overnight.

The procession then made its way through Edinburgh today, with thousands of people on Canongate Road turning up and erupting into a respectful applause.

This was all before a service at St Giles’ Cathedral where the Queen will lie at rest and a public viewing will begin at 5pm for 24 hours.

Tomorrow, the Queen’s coffin will be flown from Edinburgh Airport to RAF Northfolt and then taken to Buckingham Palace in a hearse.

It will be placed in the centre of the Bow Room, where members of the royal household will have the chance to pay their respects.

The next movement of the procession will be to the Palace of Westminster, by gun carriage, on Wednesday, arriving at 3pm.

The Archbishop of Canterbury will conduct a short service and the lying in state will then begin for four days before the funeral – where members of the public can file past and pay their respects.

Her Majesty the Queen’s funeral will take place at 11am next Monday, after which the Queen's coffin will be taken to Windsor for a committal.
