HAIRCUTS with a Turkish twist are on offer at a new barber shop in the Bradford district.
A&H Turkish Style Barber has opened its doors to customers on Kirkgate in Shipley.
The shop is owned by Aryan Hamedi, 32, who works there alongside his friend, Hassan Bapiree, 22. The two men, who both live in Bradford but are originally from Turkey, previously worked together at a barber shop in Skipton and this is the first site Aryan has owned himself.
They say men are making more regular visits to their barbers than they used to a few years ago and are also going there for other facial treatments including to the eyebrows. Turkish barbers are also famed for using a flame to remove ear hair.
Aryan said: “It feels good to be open. It is in a good location. We are looking forward to building the business up.
“We used to work together in Skipton. We offer a full valet for people, everything from the neck up.”
The shop will also see customers treated like kings as they take a seat in one of three gold barber chairs. The talking point seats are from Turkey and cost £1,000 each.
Hassan says he can recommend what hairstyles will suit people best when they come into the shop, which has numbered pictures on its walls with different haircuts that men and boys could be inspired to choose from.
He said: “Everyone has a different type of hair.
“People have their hair cut more often than they did 10 years ago. Some people come in once a week. When I worked in Skipton, I had a customer come in every five days.
“When people sit down in the gold chairs, they say they feel like a king.”
The Turkish Style Barber offers a range of treatments and haircuts as they look to extend the business which opened earlier this month.
They offer a full service for £27, which includes a haircut and a clipped beard trim. Other services available include hot towel shaves, head shaves and a pattern in a customer’s hair.
The shop also offers skin fades which see customers have a grade zero around the bottom half of their head with a longer hairstyle on top. Haircuts are also available at £8 for pensioners and children aged under 12.
The shop is open seven days a week, Monday to Saturday from 9am to 6pm and Sundays between 10am and 6pm.
