A MAN in his sixties has been taken to hospital following an assault in Wyke this morning.

Police were called to Green Lane shortly after 11am and a police cordon was put in place.

Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “At 11.04am today, police received a report of a man having been assaulted on Green Lane, Wyke.

“The victim, who is aged in his sixties, has been taken to hospital for treatment.

“A scene was put in place for forensic examination but has since been lifted.

"Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

One passer-by told the Telegraph & Argus: “There’s been police and crime scene investigation officers outside a house since morning.

“I was driving back to my house and saw them looking into someone’s garden and taking photos.

“An ambulance, with someone inside, was parked on the corner as well.”
